Barnaby's story

Barnaby does not have a genetic tendency towards cruciate ligament problems. I think he stretched (not ruptured) it during antics of playing with my miniature horse! I heard a yelp one day and thought he had been kicked but there was no mark on him. For 8 months he was lame. Rest and medication did not help. I had to wait to do his surgery because I needed spinal fusion this past summer and it was a matter of who came first. Yesterday was his 8 week x ray. All is well. He doesn't limp any more except occasionally when first waking up, for not even a minute. We will be starting our long walks now.

I used Dr. John Whitefield at the Hudson Valley Vet Group in Hopewell Junction (Dutchess County) NY. It was over an hour away from me but well worth the trip. Aside from his being a fantastic surgeon, his staff is warm, caring, and extremely professional. "Reasonable" too ... I think.
