After surgery
Shyla, our 7 year old Shepherd/Husky, began limping and carrying her left rear leg in November 1999. A local vet took x-rays and found her to have H.D. and arthritis. We gave her Rimadyl while waiting for an appointment at the University of Missouri in April 2000.

At the University of Missouri, the surgeon found the cruciate to be the immediate problem, and surgery was performed the following day. Shyla had no complications. We kept her kenneled for 8 weeks as the surgeon advised us to do.

Eight weeks post-op and doing well!
Walking was the only therapy suggested, and she was released in October 2000. We were told she still has muscle loss in the repaired leg, otherwise, doing great. No re-check scheduled. U.M. advised us to give Glucosamine H.C.I. and so far the H.D. is not a problem.
